As the world anxiously awaits the start of football season, our island’s youth football teams are getting ready to hit the gridiron.

The Guam National Youth Football Federation (GNYFF), at a press conference held today at the Triple J Enterprises, Inc. Main Headquarters in Upper Tumon, released the GNYFF 2014 Season schedule, which begins with regular season games kicking off this weekend.

At the same time, Triple J Ford announced its two-year renewal agreement as the official sponsor of the GNYFF. The sponsorship agreement will run through the 2015 season.

With GNYFF, its board and representatives, Triple J presented the federation with a galvanized steel utility trailer that will support them in transporting required logistical equipment to and from each field for the duration of the season.

“We are proud to be returning sponsors of GNYFF,” said Jay Jones, Senior Vice President of Triple J Enterprises, Inc. “Ford’s nationwide commitment is to support youth sports, one community at a time, and it is our group mission to make a lasting impact in our community by supporting organizations such as GNYFF that inspire team work, leadership, discipline and integrity.” Jones went on to say, “It is important for our group to give back to the community we live and do business in, there is no better feeling than supporting our youth and reminding them we are a big fan, and it is our hope to create big fans out of them in the future.”

Ivan Shiroma, President of GNYFF added, “It is critical for us to continue to improve and run the federation in a professional manner. Sponsorships such as Triple J Ford not only help with football equipment and logistical needs of the federation but also help enable us to reach the 1,000 plus players and 200 plus cheerleaders of our eight-team league. Our goal as a federation is to not only teach our players the fundamentals and strategies of football, but to also teach them the skills they will need to be positive and productive adults in our community. We teach many life lessons beyond the game itself.”

Fred Tupaz, Media Specialist for GNYFF shared how the vision of the federation has always been to develop a sustainable youth football program that will encourage progressive development of the youth on Guam, taking them to the next level, “We look to the future in all we do at GNYFF – molding past players like Will Williams and Tegan Brown who are taking their careers to the next level in the mainland – to enhancing our federation’s communication platforms – we know we have to be progressive in all we do.”

GNYFF is proud to launch their newly re-designed and interactive website,, where visitors to the site will have access to weekly video highlights, schedules, standings, and much more. Tupaz encourages the island to stay connected with GNYFF by visiting the site for regular updates and postings throughout the season.

Tupaz encourages the community to get involved, it affects the ability for any youth league program to run successfully, whether it be through sponsorship or volunteer support, “You have to have a community that is involved, that’s first and foremost – we need the help and support of not just our board members, coaches, players and parents, but the entire community, to keep GNYFF going”.
