Triple J's Milestones
Sept. 14, 1984 Triple J Enterprises Inc. is founded
by Robert H. Jones; wife, Margaret; and sister, Georgia
Stafford as original incorporators. Doing business as
Triple J Motors, the new company is the distributor
of Subaru automobiles, Hino Heavy trucks and buses,
and Bluebird School buses.
May 14, 1985 Triple J Enterprises Inc. acquires Mighal
International Inc. (dba Triple J Merchant Services),
a freight-forwarding business in Oakland, Calif. As
nearly all products in Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands,
and Micronesia have to be imported, this is a strategic
acquisition on a long- term basis and would eventually
play a major role in the support of the island-based
companies.
June 24, 1985 Triple J Saipan Inc. is formed to represent
the same brands as Triple J Motors Guam.
Nov. 22, 1986 Triple J opened its new distributorship
facility located between Pay-Less and McDonald’s
in Tamuning in Guam.
July 30, 1987 Triple J Marshalls Inc. is formed in Ebeye
in the Marshall Islands after Triple J wins a request
for proposal by the local government. Drawing on his
extensive grocery background and experience garnered
from years with J&G Payless, Bob Jones put together
the winning proposal.
Dec. 1, 1987 Triple J announces the scheduled opening
of Autoworld in Harmon, which will be the second-largest
automotive showroom on Guam and Triple J’s third
sales dealership.
